“I feel like kid with a new toy!”

- James Larsen after completing Jumping 3: Mind the Gap

Welcome to INTRINSIC FLOW GUIDING AND INSTRUCTION in Bellingham WA. We offer rider clinics, lessons, guided packages and Now Shuttle service in the Bellingham area.

CHUCKANUT SHUTTLES

Scheduled Service (the cheapest option with set pick-up times, Punchcard or 3-Pack Pass) won’t start until March 2nd, but you can book a Shuttle By Request by using the Contact Tab above right now!

This begins our second year of service at Larrabee State Park running shuttles and we’ve been working tirelessly on trail improvements. In the past six months we’ve logged close to 200 hours at Chuckanut working on rebuilding damaged corners, buffing out brake bumps and even building a few sweet new features here and there. If you rode the shuttle last year, you should ride it again and compare. It’s running so good you will most likely be amazed by the improvements. And if you haven’t ever ridden the shuttle at Chuckanut, then you definitely need to check it out. Nearly 1800 feet of descent and more ripping turns than you can shake a stick at! There are 2 major routes down the hill including Double Black/Double Down (2 plus miles over 1600 feet of descent) to get your fast and often flowey technical downhill fix OR Upper Ridge/Lower Ridge/Salal/Hemlock (5 miles over 1700 feet of descent) for a longer rolling (mostly) downhill trail with rock slabs, chunder and ending with undulating whoops. Click here for more info!

INSTRUCTION

My focus teaching is flow. Mountain biking is filled with obstacles and that get in your way, slow you down or just upset that flow. Rocks, roots, jumps and drop-offs are all a blast for the experienced rider that knows how to ride them, but if you don’t, it can be anything but. The learning curve can be pretty steep in this sport. If you're struggling, I can help! I teach clinics on the skills that riders struggle with.

If you are a beginner or intermediate rider, check out Fundamentals. I do co-ed clinics and at women’s clinics too. If you’re new, start with the BASICS clinic and branch out from there. I also strongly recommend TURNS clinic. Even riders that have been at it for years are shocked to discover that they’ve been doing it the hard way. Doing it right will transform your riding!

If you are a confident trail rider but you want to step up your game, you’ll want to check out Sessions. In this series, we work on more advanced techniques including jumping, doing drops, rolls, riding steep terrain and other more advanced skills. Jumping is one of my passions and I learned to jump somewhat later in life. I started in my late thirties and I have had jump students that are as old as 60. I’m a firm believer that anyone can learn, if it’s approached with the right amount of thought and deliberate practice. Don’t let your friends have all the fun! Learn to jump in a safe and supportive environment and find your own Intrinsic Flow.

COMING HERE TO RIDE?

If you’re from out of town and you want to see what the riding here is all about, don’t waste your time staring at a map all day! We have 3 riding areas that are all within a 15 minute drive. Galbraith, Chuckanut and Blanchard Mountains are all easily accessible for half day trips, but substantial enough for all day or even a week (or more) of rides. Galbraith alone has over 60 miles of trial! If you’re an XC guy looking to get in some amazing singletrack riding with some views, we’ve got it. If you want rough and rooted descents, we got that too. Shuttle runs? Definitely. And if you like jumps, we’ve got those for days. Want to go on a spin with the family. Let’s do it! The quantity and quality of trial in this town is truly staggering. Give me a call or send me an email and let’s talk about how we can make your bike trip to Bellingham amazing!
